What better way is there to enjoy this hot weather than with the Hot Machines?

This trio is part of Chicago's past. All three members have gone on to other bands: Jered Gummere's an integral part of the Ponys, Matt Williams now drums for the Baseball Furies, and Miss Alex White is, well, Miss Alex White. Each band in their own right is awesome, but when you get these three together it's like the best of all of them. On these rare occasions when they do get back together and do a show like Wednesday night at Subterranean, it makes me feel kind of sad to think that I'm watching something out of their history rather than what's to come. Fortunately, we now have three new bands instead of one, and each one has their own part of that Hot Machines sound and made it into something new and sometimes bigger. So all I can say is, watch for the Ponys, Miss Alex, and the Baseball Furies, because they're not to be missed. And if you're lucky enough to see the Hot Machines on a bill again, drop everything and go at all costs.
